Dear Memorial Families,
As we close one chapter and prepare to open the next, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your partnership, trust, and unwavering commitment to your children’s success. The 2024–2025 school year was a powerful testament to what’s possible when a school community leads with love, purpose, and high expectations.
Together, we laid the foundation for transformational change—one rooted in relationships, rigorous instruction, and restorative culture. Here’s a look at where we’ve been, what we’ve built, and where we’re going next.
🔑 Highlights from 2024–2025
🌟 Strengthening Our School Community
We welcomed over 300 families to our Family Orientation, setting the tone for a year grounded in transparency, trust, and collaboration.
We revised our mission to reflect our deepest belief: every child’s genius deserves nurturing. This mission guided every decision and helped build a student-centered culture of belonging.
Our MLK Day of Service, Family Nights, and the launch of our Parent Roundtable gave families new ways to engage meaningfully with school life.
📚 Raising the Bar for Instruction
We implemented new systems to support strong instruction across classrooms, including:
Common planning time for teachers,
A consistent lesson planning protocol,
Targeted feedback to support academic growth.
We aligned our walkthrough and observation process to focus on what truly matters—student learning—ensuring we’re constantly growing in service of your children.
💬 Restorative Culture & Student Support
We deepened our commitment to restorative practices, ensuring students are seen, heard, and held accountable with dignity.
Our student shoutouts, mentoring programs, and community-based incentives reminded students that their effort and excellence don’t go unnoticed.
We replaced the Yondr pouch system with a student-centered cell phone policy, rooted in responsibility and self-regulation.
💡 Improved Systems & Communication
Our new Google Forms and Thrillshare systems helped streamline family communications, tutoring referrals, and daily updates—ensuring you’re always in the loop.
We made phone calls a priority over emails, reinforcing our belief in human connection as a cornerstone of trust.
🏫 Upgrades to Our Building
Our environment became more inviting with:
Fresh hallway signage and rugs,
A resurfaced track and new baseball field,
Updated gym space to support wellness and school pride.
👋 A Warm Welcome to Our Cotten 6th Graders!
We’re thrilled to welcome our newest scholars from Cotten this fall! We know transitions can be big moments, and we are committed to making this one joyful, seamless, and empowering. Be on the lookout for Orientation Dates coming in August—you’ll receive communication soon with times and details to help your child start strong.
🔭 What’s Ahead in 2025–2026
The transformation needed will take all of us. In the year ahead, we will continue to:
Center our work on relationships, equity, and excellence.
Refine our academic supports to ensure every student is challenged and cared for.
Elevate student voice, family partnerships, and school pride.
We know challenges will come—but so will growth. Our charge remains the same: to believe in every child’s brilliance, to partner with you in their success, and to lead with clarity and compassion.
Thank you for being part of the Memorial story. The best is yet to come.
With gratitude,
Mr. Morgan
